Trip to Te Tuhi
Last Tuesday we went to Te Tuhi. We saw pretty paintings. The
paintings had my favourite colours. Then we hugged the sculpture. It was very
big. Then we painted colour wheels. We also smelled the coffee and food from
the café. I felt happy when we mixed the colours.

Making a plan for my story

We are learning to count on and down from the bigger number. I have learnt that counting on means starting at the number after and counting down means starting at the number before.

Adding detail
Adding detail means our story can answer the questions who, where, when, what how and why. Detail means there will be more information . It makes the story more interesting. It makes a picture in the reader's head. It can be tricky to add detail.

Contractions
We have been learning about noticing contractions. Contraction is a word made by squashing 2 words together. Some letters pop out of the 2 words and they are not in the contraction. Contractions have a punctuation mark like a comma sticking in the air in the middle.
"It is tricky to notice contractions when I am reading."
Writing with Capital Letters and Full Stops
"We learnt to put capital letters. It was tricky. They go after the full stops. It was hard to know where the full stops go."
